Natural Stone Sealer Performance Test
BAGM applies a professional 15-year Stain-Proof sealer to all natural stone surfaces. Rather than resealing on a set schedule, we recommend periodic testing in accordance with Natural Stone Institute guidelines.
To test, place a small amount of water on the surface and allow it to sit for 10–15 minutes. If the water darkens the stone or absorbs into the surface, it may be time to reapply sealer. If the water beads and the surface does not darken, the sealer is still performing properly.
Marble Sealer Performance Test*
Marble is a softer, more porous natural stone and benefits from proper sealing to help resist staining. BAGM applies a professional 15-year Stain-Proof sealer at installation.
To evaluate sealer performance, place a few drops of water on the surface for 10–15 minutes. If the area darkens, the stone may need to be resealed. If the water beads and does not absorb, the sealer remains effective.
Please note: Sealing helps reduce staining but does not prevent etching or scratching, which are natural characteristics of marble.
Proper cleaning and maintenance will help maximize the life of your sealed surface.
*Marble needs a slight distinction because sealing helps with staining — not etching.
